Have you tasted baby food lately?
I know it’s a little weird, but I feel that I should taste whatever I’m making my baby eat and let me tell you, most of the commercially available baby food (the stuff in jars) are pretty nasty. How am I supposed to develop a taste for healthy, nutritious foods in my child when the only thing really good are sweet fruitcups?
So I’ve started cooking some main meals for my baby from scratch. Not only do they taste a lot better, I’m acutally saving money and since she only eats small portions at the time, it’s not that time intensive to do. Let me explan… I cook a batch of potatoes and carrots for example and freeze it in small portions that I can then just heat up for the next month. I just rotate through 5 or 6 different meals and everyone is happy.
Of course you could also take some of the food you are cooking for your family anyway (i.e. you’re boiling potatoes to mash) and set some aside for baby before you add any seasonings, butter etc. Mash it up or throw it in the food processor and you have baby food.
