Why are Gift Vouchers called Gift Vouchers?
This is a good question. Not a lot of people know the real reason that gift vouchers are called gift vouchers. The reason comes in two parts. The first is the word “gift”. This means the item is being given as a present. It is not as with anything expect in return (well not with anything contracted to be returned, although the giver may expect a gift in return). The second word is “voucher”. A voucher is a token or certificate. In this case the voucher is for a value of money which can be spent at the store for which the gift voucher has been provided by.
