For the most amazing view of the Grand Canyon seen from directly above the Colorado River you must visit the Grand Canyon Sky Walk. This walkway is built from clear glass which lets a person see in all directions including below you. It was opened in 2007 (construction started in 2004) and in case you are wondering how safe this amazing Sky Walk is, here are some statistics to reassure you: Tests carried out in 2005 confirmed that this bridge is able to cope with extreme winds of 100 mph and can support a weight that corresponds to that of 71 Boeing 747 aircraft (71 million pounds). In addition to this, the Sky Walk can effectively withstand the shocks of earthquakes that would measure 8.0 on the Richter scale.
